Victorian Parlor Series: Jazz Club

In partnership with the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Jazz Age is coming to Kernersville, featuring a presentation of songs enjoyed by the Körner family in their home during this period in history.
This exciting event will take place from 6 pm to 9 pm, with two performances by the Symphony’s jazz ensemble in Cupid’s Park Theatre, on the third floor of the historic home. The first performance will start promptly at 6:00 pm, and the second at 7:45 pm.
Before and in between performances, guests are invited to enjoy Prohibition-era cocktails, beer and wine, and light hors d’oeuvres in the Community Room of the new John & Bobbie Wolfe Visitors Center. Guests are also invited to wander through the 22 rooms of historic Körner’s Folly and meet and mingle with Symphony performers during this intermission.
The Körner family were great lovers of all forms of music, establishing a Kernersville Orchestra as well as providing musical instruction to their children, Doré and Gilmer, on the piano and violin. We celebrate their appreciation for popular and exciting hits from the Jazz Age, with inspiration for this program found in the 1920s and 30s records from the Körner’s Folly Collection, donated by John G. Wolfe, III.
