Girl Scout Day: Playing the Past

This annual event offers Junior Girl Scouts the opportunity to complete requirements to earn the Playing the Past and Social Butterfly badges. As troops or individuals with their parent(s), Junior Girl Scouts are invited to:
• Take a self-guided tour of the 22-room Victorian-era house museum with a digital scavenger hunt
• Attend a charming Tea Party on the Porch
• Play fun and historic yard games
• Learn about Victorian fashion
• Practice observation and writing skills
Attendees are welcome to bring lunch or snacks for picnics on the Lawn.
Playing the Past Requirements:
Explore what it was like to live in the past. Dream up a character and get ready to live history!
1. Decide who you are
2. Create a costume
3. Experience daily life
4. Have some old-fashioned fun
5. Become your character
When you’ve earned this badge, you’ll know how girls of the past lived, worked, and played.
Social Butterfly Requirements:
Have fun practicing the social style and good manners that will make you comfortable in any situation.
1. Hold a conversation
2. Use table manners
3. Be prepared for special occasions
4. Say thank you
5. Practice being at ease
When you’ve earned this badge, you’ll know how to act at many types of events, from picnics to weddings to parties.
Entry times are limited to 16 people every 30 minutes. Activities will be available from 10 am – 2 pm. Self-guided tours of the historic house last approximately 1 hour.

Program will be held rain or shine. Tickets are non-refundable, but may be redeemed for any self-guided tour, Tuesdays – Saturdays, within a year of the purchase date.
